With funding from the People Powered Change Big Lottery fund, a horticulture project for local adults seeking employment and primary school children was set up to enable them to learn how to grow their own fruit and vegetables. If you live locally to Sale Moor, the project is open to any adult who is not in employment, including vulnerable adults. Our project will run on Mondays and weekends from 2 April 2012. Trafford Leisure - council leisure pages

Places to see and visit around the Sale area - Check out the Sports page as well for local activities.

There are plenty of places in and around Sale where you can spend your leisure time.

There are leisure centres, parks and nature trails and you are only a short drive away from some of the most beautiful countryside in the British Isles - that of the Peak District and the Lake District.

Sale Water Park LakeSale Water Park facility, just off junc. 6 of the M60, provides water sports, a Nature Reserve and large areas of paths and woods for walking.

By following the River Mersey towpath you can travel for miles in both directions. For more info on the Water Park, water sports, the area, its wildlife and coming events being held by the wardens see the links at the top of this page.

With the building of the M63 motor-way in 1972, the extraction of gravel at Sale left a large water-filled hole of about 35 acres.

The lake and surrounding area was developed and in May 1980 it was opened as a Water Park. Trafford Leisure Services operate a programme of activities throughout the year for the public, groups and clubs. Details and conditions of use of the lake are available at the Water Sports Centre where everyone wishing to use the lake must report to.

Open Swimming at Sale Water Park

Cycling

Cycling is well catered for in the area. The obvious place is the Water Park with its many tracks and paths. The Water park also links to Priory Woods, on Dane Rd. The banks of the River Mersey allow cyclists to travel for long distances in both directions i.e. to Chorlton and Didsbury and towards Stretford and beyond.

Trafford cyclists to benefit from new route for the Mersey Valley

A NEW and vastly improved cycle route around the Mersey Valley could be open by summer 2019, after Trafford Council was awarded £2.6 million by Highways England to push ahead with the scheme.

Horse Riding

Horse Riding

There are several riding schools in the Sale area. With traffic on the roads being so bad these days, riders are having to keep to bridle paths and suitable 'horse-friendly' areas.
