Self Help Services - cCBT Support Worker opportunity

The volunteer would provide help and support to clients using a computerised package designed to help people overcome feelings of depression, anxiety and low mood. They would be supervised and trained by paid staff. Our volunteers have found this an extremely rewarding experience, sometimes giving them more confidence to take up paid employment or to take advantage of educational opportunities.

The organisation

We offer a range of services in the community for people experiencing anxiety, depression and related mental health problems. Our services include self help groups, complementary therapies and computerised cognitive behavioural therapy. We also have a primary care mental health service which provides people with one-to-one support based on brief, facilitated, evidence-based self-help interventions that are underpinned by the principles of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and an extensive range of both drop-in and structured support groups.

Skills/Qualifications

No formal qualifications are required. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about mental health and who believe in the 'self help' ethos. Those applying should have some personal experience of anxiety or depression or to be interested in these areas. Familiarity with IT is desirable. Training, line management and clinical supervision will be provided.

Getting there

The Zion Community Resource Centre is located on Stretford Road in Hulme just west of Hulme Bridge. Stretford Road is the major road linking Manchester Metropolitan University and Old Trafford.Volunteering opportunites are across Greater Manchester.
