What are our aims?
To work with the people of Trafford to enhance the quality of life by
promoting, supporting and developing community and voluntary activity
through new ideas, new action, new groups and volunteering.
How Trafford
C.V.S. can help?
We have over 200 member voluntary organisations ranging from small groups
to large charities. It is rich in skills, good practice, new ideas and
progressive ways of working. Members not only support each other but also
can speak from a position of strength.
Trafford
C.V.S. can identify gaps in the provision of services and works in partnership
to meet these needs. We also represent the Trafford voluntary and community
sector in a wide range of local, regional and national arenas and produce
a quarterly newsletter. We have a library
of over 150 publications and have access to equipment and services such
as photocopying.
What Trafford
C.V.S. can provide?
We provide information on and support in:
- Setting
up new groups - roles and responsibilities of committees, trustees and
directors, constitutions and governance, charity law and other legal
responsibilities.
- The development
of existing groups.
- Funding
- Access to Funderfinder computer package for small groups and individuals
in need. Advice on available funding streams and how to complete funding
application forms.
- Working
with volunteers - staff and volunteer recruitment, policies and good
practice.
- Publicity
and marketing.
- Training
- can be provided to meet the needs of local community organisations
and groups.
- Sign posting
groups to other sources of information.
Who runs
Trafford C.V.S.?
As a registered charity, we are governed by a board of elected trustees
who come from voluntary groups and organisations and members of the local
community. They are responsible for managing the C.V.S. and determining
its work and direction. The C.V.S. employs one member of staff.
Which
organisations can become members?
Membership is free to any not-for-profit, voluntary or community organisation
that works in the Borough of Trafford. Contact us for a membership form.
Trafford
C.V.S. currently has three projects running:
1.Trafford
Volunteer Centre: As the only accredited volunteer centre in the Borough
it supports, promotes and develops all aspects of volunteering. Access

2.Trafford
Advocacy Scheme: This is an independent service to provide support
and assistance to all adults with complaints about Trafford Social Services.
3.Trafford
Forum for Older People: Provides an arena for older people to discuss
and campaign on issues that affect them. Meets every six weeks at Cadman
House.
Room Hire:
Trafford C.V.S. also has 2 rooms at Cadman House for hire at competitive
rates, consisting of one large upstairs meeting room, which can accommodate
25-30 and a smaller downstairs room for 10-15 people. Please contact the
